King County recorded a 1.5 months' supply of housing inventory as of June 2023, indicating a slight increase from the 1.34 months' supply reported in June 2022. Similarly, Snohomish County saw its inventory supply rise to 1.07 months, up from 1.34 months a year earlier. These figures illuminate the ongoing challenges of supply and demand dynamics in the area's housing market. According to many industry analysts, a four- to six-month inventory level is often deemed indicative of a healthy real estate market. According to the Northwest Multiple Listing Service, May was the first time King County had more than a month's supply of homes for sale since September 2017. It was only the third time since October 2016. However, this is still far below the four-to-six month level that many industry analysts consider as an indicator of a healthy market.

Construction employment in Washington state reached 227,900 in December 2019, according to preliminary numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That is the highest statewide construction employment number recorded by BLS for Washington in the past decade. Last month’s increase of 1,200 construction jobs in our state was led by a gain of 700 specialty trade contractor jobs, according to the Employment Security Department..
