In criticizing Fox "News," the late Steve Jobs famously said, "The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you've cast your lot with the destructive people." Nationally, destructive policy comes from the right.

On the Planet Seattle, however, a good deal of destructive policy comes from the left. Chief example is the demand for construction impact fees by some on the City Council and among candidates for mayor and council posts. The claim is to "make growth pay for itself." And the implication is that developers are getting a free ride.

The latest Builder’s Bulletin includes annual population estimates recently released by the Office of Financial Management (OFM). According to OFM, the Puget Sound Region’s population as of April 1, 2018 was 4,134,660. Over the past year, the region added 67,860 people, which is down from last year but still strong.

The Builders' Bulletin is intended to provide a convenient way to track housing in our market and includes information from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service, State of the Cities Data Systems, Office of Financial Management and the Washington State Employment Security Department.

It’s now much easier for 16-year-old Remy Williams to get in and out of his house.

The Williams family was one of several families to have a ramp built for free by volunteers during the Master Builders Association’s annual Rampathon event. The event allows families to apply for a new ramp to be built leading into and out of their houses to help with mobility.

Remy Williams has cerebral palsy and primarily uses a wheelchair to get around. Before the ramp, one of his parents would need to first bring the wheelchair outside, then carry Remy down a set of stairs to get him outside.
