Amidst economic fluctuations, the construction sector in Washington is grappling with challenges. Recent data reveals a 10,800-job decline in construction employment between February 2023 and February 2024. The state’s overall construction workforce now stands at 225,800.

The median price of single-family homes and condos (combined) was $612,000 in King County and $471,747 in Snohomish County in November 2019, according to the latest numbers from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. This reflects a year-over-year increase of 1.16% and 4.83%, respectively.

New data from the Puget Sound Regional Council show our four-county region (King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties) has added more than 464,000 jobs since 2010. That works out to over 2.75 jobs for every housing unit constructed during this period.
