Construction employment in Washington state reached 227,900 in December 2019, according to preliminary numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That is the highest statewide construction employment number recorded by BLS for Washington in the past decade. Last month’s increase of 1,200 construction jobs in our state was led by a gain of 700 specialty trade contractor jobs, according to the Employment Security Department..

January Builders Bulletin: Housing Inventory in King and Snohomish Counties Remains Low

Despite Increase As of December 2024, the housing inventory in King County stood at 1.6 months’ supply, a slight increase from 1.4 months in December 2023. Similarly, Snohomish County experienced a rise in housing inventory, reaching 1.1 months’ supply, up from .9 months the previous year. While these numbers reflect a modest improvement, they remain well below the four- to six-month supply level that many industry analysts consider indicative of a healthy market.

King County’s August median home price of $815,000 stayed relatively flat compared to the previous month, which was $810,000. Snohomish County saw a month-over-month dip in its median home price of single-family homes and condos—from $737,500 in July to $700,000 in August. Year-over-year prices were up 5.6% in King County and 4.9% in Snohomish County.
