May 2026 Builders Bulletin: Data Reveals More Signs of Economic Uncertainty

Economic headwinds are being felt in the local housing market as home prices are softening and more listings are taking longer to sell, according to new data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. Economic uncertainly also affected builder sentiment, which saw a notable drop in April, falling four points both nationally and in the West. The NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) measures builder confidence, indicating how builders feel about the current and near-term housing outlook.
