Volunteers gave their time and expertise to build a ramp for an 11-year-old Auburn boy last Saturday.

Trenton Heuring Smart was born with cerebral palsy and has seizures. He can’t walk or speak. The ramp will help caregivers transport him in and out of his home for safely.

The ramp was made possible through the efforts of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, Dunn Lumber, Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau, and volunteers.

Data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service show the month’s supply of housing inventory for sale continuing to decline in King and Snohomish counties. In November, King County had 0.93 months’ supply of inventory, down from 0.99 the previous month, and 1.39 months’ of inventory a year ago. Even more concerning, Snohomish County had just 0.38 months’ supply of inventory in November, down from 0.49 the prior month and 1.27 a year ago.

In criticizing Fox "News," the late Steve Jobs famously said, "The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you've cast your lot with the destructive people." Nationally, destructive policy comes from the right.

On the Planet Seattle, however, a good deal of destructive policy comes from the left. Chief example is the demand for construction impact fees by some on the City Council and among candidates for mayor and council posts. The claim is to "make growth pay for itself." And the implication is that developers are getting a free ride.
