Built Green Conference 2021
Equitable Futures
This year’s conference theme is Equitable Futures. It will take a deeper look at how we can retrofit existing buildings to bring them into a future—while leaving no one behind. After spending over a year isolated by social distancing, witnessing the unjust disparities faced by our BIPOC community members, and now the hope brought on by COVID-19 vaccine distribution, we are filled with a renewed sense of purpose.
Houses have become more than homes—they are now offices, schools, gyms, and emotional shelters. The emotional, economic, and environmental burdens of the pandemic weren’t distributed evenly in our communities and a sustainable future is one that creates a vibrant and healthy future for all. With reflection, introspection, and all the tools and capabilities we have as a community, we can achieve this bright and equitable future.
We are excited to welcome keynote speaker Sam Rashkin, founder of Retooling the U.S. Housing Industry and author of “Housing 2.0: Home Is Where Life Happens,” to share proven strategies and best practices for optimizing the housing user experience. Sam is widely known for his accomplishments as national director of ENERGY STAR Certified Home and Zero Energy Ready Home for the U.S. EPA and DOE, respectively. During his 20-plus years as a licensed architect, he specialized in energy efficient design, completing over 100 high-performance residential projects. Sam’s contributions to sustainable housing were recognized by the prestigious Hanley Award in 2012 and EEBA Legend Award in 2019.
The conference will feature breakout sessions, lively sponsors and great networking.
Come join Sam in making this another successful Built Green Conference.
